So many things divide us, from internal conflict to family alienation, from political differences to religious factions. Black and white. Red and blue. I want to talk about what divides us. Not because I like division but because talking about division is an avenue to understanding. If I ask you to tell me about a division that concerns you—isolation, alienation, relationship friction, community divides, terrorism, any kind of separation from others—your response tells me something about you. The topic you choose and how you describe it tell me about you and about the division itself. Those are the conversations I want to have.
